The Regional Activity Centre for Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP/RAC) UNEP - Mediterranean Action Plan invited the project coordinator Ayman Al Haj Daoud, and Prof. Imad Khatib from the Academy, and Eng. Tawfeeq Odeh from Siniora Company for Meat and Tareq Yaqoub from Al Hijaz Company for Chocolate, to participate in the third annual gathering of Mediterranean Stakeholders Networking event “SwitchMed Connect” that took place in Barcelona-Spain from 13-15 November 2018.
The SwitchMed Connect 2018 is the third annual gathering of the European Union (EU) funded SwitchMed Programme with more than 300 Mediterranean stakeholders to build synergies, exchange knowledge, and scale up eco and social innovations. Policy and financial institutions, leading SMEs, start-ups and entrepreneurs, industry service providers, initiatives and change agents driving applications of productive, circular and sharing economies in many Mediterranean countries will come together in Barcelona.
The Academy presented the final results of the implemented SwitchMed TEST II project. Siniora Company and Al Hijaz Company presented their experience with SwitchMed project at the Innovation Bazaar and how they changed the lifestyle in-house the company towards Green Industry and to be more friendly with Environment. They stated that saving Water and electricity not only important for the company, but to contribute to the suffered communities from lacking water and electricity.
