Under the support and sponsors of Palestinian German Science Bridge, Juelich Research Center FZJ, in coordination with the Academy, and Arab American University AAUP, Department of Biomedical Sciences, are organizing

the upcoming Computational Biophysics 2-Day Hands-on Workshop

scheduled to take place

from 23th to 24th October 2023 at Arab American University AAUP

This workshop is sponsored and executed under the frame of Palestine German Science Bridge (PGSB) Program, which aims to develop joint research and education programs, coordinated and implemented by the Palestine Academy for Science and Technology (PALAST) and Institute of Biological Information Processing (IBI-7) at Juelich Research Center (FZJ), and funded by the German Federal Ministry of Science and Scientific Research BMBF.

About the workshop: Protein structure prediction is a rapidly growing field of research with exciting applications in many areas, including drug design, thanks to bioinformatics and biophysical techniques that make it possible. Anyone with a basic background in molecular biology and physics and a general interest in biomolecular data analysis can set up and run computational modeling and dynamics experiments.

Objectives: Participants will use popular open source tools and techniques necessary for conducting successful structural biology, model building from experimental data, and molecular docking.

Who should attend?
Researchers and students, who are interested in learning tools to explore, visualize and understand biomolecular structures and their functions in three dimensions.

Program

Day 1:

  • Introductory lecture
  • Tutorial: visualization of proteins with VMD
