The Statement of the Human Rights Committee of Palestine Academy for Science and Technology - 20th May 2021

The Israeli military aggression against the Gaza Strip has left more than 243 people killed and 1910 injured in addition to a devastated infrastructure in an enclosed area of 360 square kilometers with a population density exceeding 5500 inhabitants/square kilometer.  The people in such an enclosed entity are left with very minimal fuel, food, and medications and yet such aggression is committed in front of the international community’s eyes. The fighter aircrafts together with Israel’s other naval and ground war machines have bombarded the Gaza Strip with tons of explosives that did not spare civilian houses and other public buildings. 

The Academy mourns all the martyrs of Palestine, school and University students, and the members of administrative and teaching staff at Palestinian Universities who died due to the continuous aggression on the Gaza strip. 

The Human Rights Committee of the Palestine Academy for Science and Technology strongly condemns the Israeli aggression against the enclosed Gaza Strip, the continuous murder and destruction Israel inflicts, and the heinous crimes it commits against the people of Gaza. The actions of Israel in Gaza violate all humane and moral codes. 

We stress the need for urgent intervention by all the free people of the world to put an end to this continual aggression against holy places and the Palestinian people, and we call on the international community and institutions to act swiftly to put an end to the Israeli military aggression on Gaza.
