Host Department: Magnetic Insertion Group
French Partner: Charles Kitegi
Research Domain: Magnetic measurement, magnets for accelerators
Research Project Title: Construction of a generic magnetic measurement bench at SOLEIL
Research Project Purpose: Precise magnetic measurements are essential for the developments of accelerators. The Magnetism and Insertion Device group at SOLEIL has developed several measurement benches based on rotating coils or stretched wire, in use both internally of by external group for magnet and undulator (creating a period permanent magnet field) characterization. Although the same Maxwell equations apply to Insertion devices and accelerator magnets, these two engineering fields parted in different ways. The objective of the project is to develop a stretched wire bench unifying these two fields, providing to the engineers a unique platform to measure Insertion devices or accelerator magnets.
Main outputs/results: construction of the stretched wire bench, measurement automation and date analysis
Expected future impact: establish the first accelerator physics group in Palestine, students training and enrollment in the domain
Future Plan: establish the first accelerator physics group, students training and enrollment in the domain
Main Impact: spread the accelerator physics/synchrotron radiation knowledge through co-taught courses and seminars, students training and enrollment in the domain
Sharing lectures: accelerator physics course
Sharing Conferences: Second International Workshop on Synchrotron Radiation and Applications-SESAME in Palestine, March 31st-April 1st 2019, An-Najah National University, Nablus, Palestine.
