About Us
Enacted by a presidential decree as a national autonomous institution, the Academy acts as an engine for bolstering our scientific, technological, research and innovation capacity, and for their effective deployment as levers for economic, social and human development.
Strategic Goals
Academy goals and functions are, in essence, geared towards developing, coordinating and promoting science and technology, and scientific research and innovation, consequently contributing to the development of policies and strategies that meet the national priorities.
Governance
In September of 2019, the Academy had its first sitting President since its initial enactment in 1994. Consequently, it is in the process of governance restructuring, institutionalization, and legal and organizational consolidation. The Board of Directors and Academy Council will shortly be formed.
Academy Membership
Selection of Academy Fellows is based on merit and academic achievements, factoring in the asymmetry of scientific engagement at home and abroad; i.e. between Palestinian scholars in the country and in the Diaspora, three levels of membership are instated; Associate, Elected and Honorary.
