High-level Palestinian Delegation Concluded a Scientific Visit to Quebec with Fonds de Recherche du Quebec (FRQ)/ Canada

Under Palestine-Quebec Science Bridge (PQSB) program, a high-level Palestinian Delegation concluded its Visit to Quebec, organized and sponsored by Fonds de Recherche du Quebec (FRQ)/ Canada
The delegation compromised of presidents and representatives of the Palestinian Universities and academy staff. They conducted the visit tour to Quebec Universities and research Institutions in Montreal and Quebec City in October 08-10, 2019, during which the successful Quebec model of collaboration, partnership and mutual support between higher education institutions, government and the private sector was introduced. 
This high-level Palestinian delegation visit becomes under the patronage of HE Nabil Maarouf- the Palestinian Ambassador in Canada, and with support of Abderrazzal Al-laia, Head of the Middle East Desk, Egypt and Turkey, Ministry of International Relations and Francophonie.
The first step was to establish a mobility program for Palestinian researchers in Québec teams. Nearly sixty Palestinian researchers have made research visits to a number of Québec universities in multidisciplinary research fields, including natural sciences & engineering, health & medicine, and social sciences & humanities. during the visit participating Quebec Universities showed high satisfaction and appreciations for the success of both the first and the second research proposal calls. The third call will be launched by the end of October 2019 to the public.
The main objective of the mission aimed to familiarize the delegates with Quebec system and expertise in the process of:
•    Strengthening the partnership by exploring potential areas of academic and scientific collaboration.
•    Learning from Quebec experience in higher education, scientific research and partnership with the industry.
•    Developing and enhancing scientific and research cooperation between both sides in common interest areas.
•    Presenting scientific research program funds by the government and the private sector.
•    the main role of the Fonds de Recherche du Quebec (FRQ).
•    Potential cooperation between institutions in Palestine and the Quebec counterparts.
During the first day of the visit, the program included a meeting between the Fonds de Recherche du Québec team and the Palestinian delegation. Then the delegation visited McGill University and the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). On the second day, the delegation visited The National Institute of Scientific Research (INRS), TÉLUQ University and Laval University. Afterwards, the delegation have had a meetings with the Ministers and officials of the Quebec Government; the general director of University Affairs and Inter-levels; Director of Africa and Middle East Department/ Ministry of Education and Higher Education; Executive Assistant at the International Affairs and Exportation Department/ Ministry of Culture and Communication/ Ministry of International Affairs and Francophonie. On the third day, the delegation visited Université de Montréal, École Polytechnique Montréal, and Université Concordia. All universities and research institutes expressed their interest in partnership with Palestinian universities and researchers, offering to work closely on joint research projects, workshops, summer and winter schools, granting Palestinian researcher graduate and postgraduate scholarship and many more.
