Born in Hebron, Palestine in 1953, Dr. Ibrahim Al Masri is the Coordinator of the Scientific Societies at the Palestine Academy for Science and Technology, and former president of Palestine Polytechnic University (PPU, 2008 -2014). Dr. Al Masri received his BSc in Mathematics and Statistics from Mosul University in Iraq in 1976, his MSc in mathematics from Ohio University in 1983 and his PhD in mathematics (specialty in analysis) in 1990 from Kent State University in the USA. He worked as a school teacher of mathematics in Libya (1976 – 1978), an assistant professor of mathematics at both Shawnee State University in the US and PPU, and finally as an associate professor of mathematics at PPU. His research is on Operator Theory and Harmonic Analysis. He also held several administrative positions at PPU: head of department, dean of the science college, vice president for academic affairs and coordinator of the master mathematics program at PPU. In 1996 he won a Fulbright scholarship that he spent in research at Indiana University in the USA, and in 2014 he was on a sabbatical year at An-Najah National University.
